๐ฐ QCPD Shares Thoughts | Moving Beyond Categories in Labour Migration Following recent thematic developments under United Nations Special Procedures (#UNSP), QCPD released a new briefing paper examining how entrenched social hierarchies can shape vulnerabilities in labour migration contexts beyond traditional analytical frameworks. Titled "Moving Beyond Categories: Minority Root Causes and Layered Vulnerabilities in Labour Migration", this paper reflects on how structural factors, including caste, migrant status, and gender, may intersect to produce compounded forms of exclusion that remain insufficiently captured in existing approaches. This contribution situates current discussions within broader human rights and multilateral policy debates, highlighting the importance of refining conceptual tools to better reflect lived realities and strengthen responses to complex patterns of discrimination. Inside the briefing paper: ๐น The evolving understanding of minority โroot causesโ in UN discourse ๐น How caste-based hierarchies can shape migration experiences across borders ๐น The concept of layered and intersecting vulnerabilities in labour migration ๐น Why greater conceptual integration matters for policy, monitoring, and access to remedies For QCPD, engaging with these questions is part of our commitment to rigorous, evidence-based human rights analysis. We are proud to contribute to informed dialogue while promoting dignity, equality, and more inclusive policy responses. Special thank you to the UN SR on Minority Issues Nicolas Levrat for inspiring this. ๐ Access the full briefing paper here: https://lnkd.in/ehz3xFvb #QCPDSharesThoughts #LabourMigration #HumanRights #MinorityIssues #Intersectionality #MigrantWorkers #SocialJustice #UNHumanRights #InternationalLaw #DecentWork #SDGs #Multilateralism #PolicyDialogue #CivilSociety #HumanDignity #RightsBasedApproach #AdvocacyInAction
