🌍 QCPD’s MUST SEE 🔍 | UPR Recommendations to Qatar As part of our series “QCPD’s MUST SEE,” we continue to spotlight key recommendations from Qatar’s 4th Universal Periodic Review (2024–2025) — ensuring they remain visible and relevant beyond the review process. 💡 This week’s spotlight is on Recommendation No. 170.118. Why does this matter?  Fair and transparent labour processes are essential to safeguarding workers’ rights, dignity, and economic security. Ensuring that workers can change jobs, terminate contracts, and leave the country without undue barriers or financial harm is a cornerstone of decent work and social protection. In times of conflict and regional instability, these protections become even more critical. Migrant workers — who sustain essential sectors and services — may face increased vulnerabilities, including income disruption, rising living costs, and increased risks to both their safety and job security. These dynamics can heighten and expose persistent gaps in labour protections, particularly where dependency structures limit mobility and access to remedies.    For QCPD, this reinforces the importance of advancing rights-based labour governance frameworks that ensure protection and accountability at every stage of employment. Safeguards across the full employment cycle is not only a matter of compliance, but of resilience, thereby ensuring that systems can protect those most at risk when pressures intensify. Because meaningful recommendations do not end with adoption — they evolve and become increasingly relevant. ♻️    #QCPDGlobal #QCPDMustSee #UPR #UniversalPeriodicReview #HumanRights #LabourRights #MigrantWorkers #DecentWork #HumanDignity #SocialJustice #LabourProtection #EconomicSecurity #RuleOfLaw #Governance #PolicyDialogue #UPRImplementation #Accountability #Resilience #GlobalLabour #WorkersRights #FairWork #StayEngaged
