Helping Renewable Energy Funds, Developers & IPPs Build Teams | 10+ Yrs in Renewable Energy Recruitment | EMEA

🌬️ Repowering! How Germany might be the hub for repowering investment strategies? Germany has a huge number of installed turbines from the early 2000s now reaching the end of their EEG support periods. That's an operational life cycle of 20+ years! What happens next though? From conversations I’m having, some investors seem to be looking at repowering as part of core business case with some pretty significant advantages! 📍 Grid connection is already secured ⚙️ Existing sites are known and understood (with years of wind data) 📈 New turbine technology can deliver several times the original output That is all before you include co location and hybridisation of the asset by adding: ☀️ Solar 🔋 BESS ⚡ Flexible grid services 📉 Curtailment optimisation Around 75% of Europe’s repowering activity last year was done in Germany, which says a lot about where the market already is. From a recruiter’s perspective, this is another sign that renewables are becoming more sophisticated and there might be more specialised M&A activity in the sector. The question remains if asset owners are actively looking at repowering as a viable route right now? DMs and comments are open for thoughts. 👇 🤝 I’m Qamar.
