On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we’re recognising the importance of creating workplaces where everyone can thrive - and the people who are helping drive that change. One of them is Angela Hudachek, a Manager in our Consulting Practice based in Newcastle, and a leader within DAWN, PwC UK’s network for colleagues with disabilities, neurodiversities and long-term health conditions. Her commitment to disability inclusion is shaped by her own experiences of a brain tumour and skin cancer, and the impact both have had on her life and career. We sat down with her to explore why disability inclusion matters - and how her journey has shaped the consultant and advocate she is today. “1 in 4 people in the UK has a disability, so if those voices aren’t represented, we risk creating solutions that exclude a significant portion of society. Inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s fundamental to delivering better outcomes for our clients and communities.” Tomorrow marks ten years since Angela’s life-changing brain surgery. Returning to full-time work after intensive rehab required determination, and she continues to navigate the ongoing effects of her condition. “These experiences have made me even more determined to help make Management Consulting a welcoming industry for people with disabilities. DAWN, and our Connections Groups, have been a practical and powerful outlet for that.” This year, Angela was also named a finalist in the MCA Awards’ Inclusion category - recognition she hopes will encourage more open conversations across the profession. “The MCAs create visibility. For me, it’s about using that platform to normalise and celebrate being a consultant with a disability.”
