The Irish Government’s new report, The Value of Data Centres to Ireland, recognises the role data centres play in supporting economic growth, employment and Ireland’s position as a leading digital economy. At Pure DC we support the Minister for Energy and the Environment Darragh O'Brien’s comments in saying that future growth must be managed and planned properly. That means operators need to show not just why data centres matter, but how they can be delivered responsibly, with energy models that support resilience, flexibility and decarbonisation. At Pure DC, this is the model at our Dublin campus - the home to Europe’s first data centre microgrid. Earlier this week, we announced it had completed Europe's first large-scale cross-border biomethane purchase for a data centre – proving that gas connected DCs can be decarbonised at operational scale. In 2025, we procured over 12 GWh of Irish biomethane and are working to further develop partnerships with Irish producers in 2026. Our biomethane procurement strategy is designed to build a balanced portfolio that provides long-term security and credibility. In the near term, this requires a diversified supply across Irish, UK and EU sources to ensure resilience and deliverability. Pure DC’s solution provides a practical pathway to lower operational emissions while longer-term energy solutions continue to develop. For Pure DC, it's another step towards building resilient, lower-carbon digital infrastructure and supporting our customers' sustainability ambitions. We are now Europe’s first, and only, DC company to be decarbonising operations across both electricity and gas grids through wind, solar and biomethane. With the right policy framework, and with operators prepared to invest in new energy models, data centres can help deliver both a digitised future, and a sustainable one.   #DataCentres #AIInfrastructure #DigitalInfrastructure
