I am going to teach my newborn daughter to love the United States of America 🇺🇸 because in no other country would our family’s story even be possible. Chief among the values of this GREAT country are the founding words from the Declaration of Independence officially adopted 250 years ago on July 4th, 1776. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” As our 42nd President so astutely put in his 1993 inauguration: “There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America." I will do whatever it takes to ensure that my daughter understands the value of contributing positively and doing what it takes to keep that Reagan-esque vision of a “shining city on a hill” for the future generations that will exist long after we are gone.
