The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Ordinary Member to the Board of The Irish National Stud DAC. The Irish National Stud DAC (“INS”) was incorporated in 1946 to help advance the Irish Bloodstock Industry. The INS has fulfilled this mission for decades through the purchase of stallions to be offered to thoroughbred breeders at competitive rates. The thoroughbred breeding industry employs approximately 29,000 people and makes a direct economic contribution of €2.4 billion to the Irish economy. The Irish National Stud DAC is a commercial semi state body situated at Tully, County Kildare. The shares are held in trust for the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation. There are four separate but interdependent aspects of the business: Stud, Farm, Tourism and Education. The board of directors of The Irish National Stud DAC and its subsidiary, INS Commercial Enterprises DAC, is collectively responsible for promoting the success of the company by leading and directing the organisation’s activities. It has a strategic function in approving the vision, mission and goals of the organisation. Additionally, the board is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable legislative obligations and establishes a policy-based governance system with ultimate responsibility for ensuring an effective risk management process is in place and regularly reviewed.
