‘Strong communities start here.’ Last week, Publica CIC joined CHANGE (City Hub and Network for Gender Equity) and Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice in Melbourne to continue our collaborative research on gender equity in urban spaces across the CHANGE cities network.  Our team led four participative workshops across the city, exploring how care work shapes urban life, city services and infrastructure with local caregivers, residents, disability support providers, women’s organisations, local government leaders and service providers.     Drawing on international best practice from Bogotá’s pioneering care blocks, we examined how city governments can address care as a social priority and embed it into the design of the built environment and themanagement and programming of community spaces, public services and social programmes.
