What if refugee camps became regenerative? 🌱 That's not just a thought experiment. It's what Tina Teucher and Generation Restoration e.V. are actually building, and she joined us on our latest podcast episode to talk about it. 75% of the world's land surfaces are degraded, 120 million people are displaced, and the standard approach - ship in food, set up tents, manage the crisis year after year - is creating a cycle of dependency that costs billions and helps no one become self-sufficient. This is exactly what Tina and Generation Restoration are working to fix. Generation Restoration works with refugee-led grassroots organizations in camps like Nakivale in Uganda to introduce permaculture, biochar, and regenerative agriculture. The result: refugees growing their own food, sequestering carbon, selling certified carbon credits to German companies, and building local economies from scratch. Not charity. Entrepreneurship. One thing she said that stuck with us: the humanitarian sector often measures success by "people under management" - how many people are you helping right now. But that incentivizes keeping people dependent. The real question should be: how many people have you helped become independent? That's a broken metric. And fixing it is exactly the kind of challenge we care about. šŸŽ§ Full conversation on the Impact Runde - link in comments! #ImpactRunde #GenerationRestoration #Regeneration #Sustainability #Refugees #ClimateAction
