🚀 Diplomacy meets code – the unique combination at the Public Makers x TUM.ai Makethon What happens when 40 highly motivated students from tech, policy, business, and design come together for one weekend to reimagine diplomacy in times of crisis? Crisis companions were coded, visa processes optimized with AI, and a shared diplomatic language was extracted using LLMs – just a few examples of the solutions built by 8 interdisciplinary teams over 48 intense and inspiring hours. 🎯 The Challenge: What if the next German embassy isn’t built with bricks, but with code? From digital consular services to real-time crisis communication, the range of ideas was visionary. The atmosphere? Electric. Driven by curiosity, purpose, and the urge to build something meaningful, students didn’t just hack for fun – they prototyped the future of diplomacy. Discussions not only included the topic of code architecture but also were about data availability in crisis situation, covered data protection and looked in detail in visa application processes. The hard job was on the jury with Vanessa Theel (SUMM AI), Dr. Afsaneh Asaei (UnternehmerTUM), Thomas Lange 🎗️ (Achleitner Ventures) and the head of the jury Hans-Christian Mangelsdorf (Data Innovation Lab / Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany) to choose a winning team. Congratulations to team VisaLegatio for winning this hackathon. Thanks to all participants for making this hackathon an unique experience.
