New retinal cell replacement method may lead to groundbreaking treatments for vision A team of researchers at Karolinska Institutet and St Erik Eye Hospital in Sweden finds a new method of using stem cells as a replacement for retinal pigment epithelial cells which are often impaired in the case of age related blindness. The team also found that using the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, they can modify the cells to resist immune system rejections.
