We have continued to make strong progress on Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2), a major 2GW high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) link connecting Peterhead in Scotland with Drax in England. Delivered through a joint venture between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), EGL2 will play a vital role in strengthening the UK’s energy network and enabling the efficient transfer of renewable power. So far the team have: - Completed construction of the HDD landfall site in Scotland and successfully drilled pilot holes - Begun the reaming phase to prepare boreholes for cable installation - Delivered over 16 km of haul roads and 12 km of drainage across the England route - Installed 1.5 km of trenching, four HDDs along with archaeological trial trenching - Completed geotechnical surveys With marine works set to begin at Sandford Bay and main construction now underway, Prysmian is proud to be helping deliver one of the UK’s most significant energy infrastructure projects, supporting a cleaner, more secure, and resilient electricity system for the future.
