PBS Community Spotlight: Raymond Arowolo From Nigeria to Scotland, Raymond Arowolo’s journey is one of resilience, growth, and purpose. Arriving in Scotland to study Computer Science at Robert Gordon University, Raymond faced the realities many international students know all too well — adapting to a new culture, navigating uncertainty, and building a life far from home. Yet through every challenge, he remained committed to one goal: making his mark in tech. That commitment led him to secure a placement at AISUS Offshore, where he transitioned from learning code to building real-world solutions. What started as curiosity quickly became purpose — contributing to impactful projects and earning recognition that would open even more doors, including a return internship as a frontend developer. But beyond the achievements, Raymond’s story speaks to something deeper — overcoming imposter syndrome, finding confidence, and understanding the importance of representation. As a young Black professional in tech, he highlights a powerful truth: diverse voices are essential in shaping the future of AI and technology. His journey has been recognised through the Gold Dennis Law RGUplus Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Mindset, alongside opportunities to share his story and inspire others walking a similar path.
