A few weeks ago, we shared that the conversation around ETCS is changing: from long-term strategy to practical implementation. After two days at the TSI & ETCS Conference in Berlin, organised by BAHNVERBAND e.V., that view was confirmed. A common question throughout the conference was how to turn ETCS ambitions into successful implementation. Across presentations covering both infrastructure and rolling stock, discussions consistently returned to the realities of delivery. Technical solutions are advancing, but successful rollout will depend on engineering capacity, collaboration across the sector and practical experience in delivering complex retrofit programmes. These were also the themes our experts Robert Sieglitz and Tim Hagedorn explored during PROSE's presentation on the upcoming ETCS rollout in Germany. The discussions afterwards reflected the challenges many organisations are now facing: how to balance rollout plans with operational constraints, available resources and project complexity.
