The GOAT 🐐 There has been plenty of debate since England's defeat to Argentina, with much of the focus on the England coaching staff, such as the tactics, the substitutions, and the decisions made during the game. Much of that criticism and ‘anger’ has come from pundits and former players, many of whom have no or unsuccessful coaching experience. What I've seen far less of, however, is recognition of Lionel Messi's brilliance. His intelligence to find space, ability to eliminate defenders, vision to play decisive passes, capacity to inspire those around him, and knack for delivering in the biggest moments are qualities we've witnessed consistently for two decades. His goals and assists, at both club and international level, underline just how difficult he is to stop, even for the world's very best teams at club and international level. This video is a reminder of exactly why facing a team with Messi is such a unique challenge. You can prepare meticulously, execute your game plan for long periods, and still be undone by a player capable of producing a moment that changes everything. The greatest players have an extraordinary ability to solve the problems an opposition presents over the course of a match. Unfortunately for England fans, Messi found a way once again.
