International Experience with Added Value: Double Degree at Tongji University During our trip to China, Verena Gründler, Director of the International Office, and I had the opportunity to visit the prestigious Tongji University in Shanghai. At the Sino-German College for Applied Sciences (CDHAW), we were warmly welcomed by Vice Director Oliver Schirmer, Prof. Dr. Frank Pöhlau from Technische Hochschule Nürnberg, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Christian-Andreas Schumann from Hochschule Zwickau. We also had the pleasure of meeting our Double Degree students, who are enrolled in International Industrial Engineering (IWI) at HTWG. They have just begun their academic stay in Shanghai, consisting of one semester at Tongji University followed by an internship in China. This program, initiated by Prof. Matthias Werner, Dean of Studies for International Industrial Engineering, together with the German University Consortium for International Cooperations (DHIK) and Tongji University, provides significant added value for our students. It not only broadens their academic horizons but also strengthens their intercultural competencies and career opportunities. Our visit once again highlighted the importance of international exchange and the strong partnerships that make such enriching experiences possible.
