🚀 From Theory to Practice: Corporate Visit to #nextbike in Leipzig! 🚴♂️🌱 What happens when you bridge the two most beautiful cities in #Saxony – and Germany? 😉 You create a perfect symbiosis of academic theory and real-world business practice. Together with my colleagues, Prof. Dr. Anne-Katrin Haubold and Prof. Dr. Christoph Scope, we took our students on an experiential field trip from #HTWDresden to #Leipzig last week, bringing together Master’s students from my "Strategy & Sustainability" module and Bachelor’s students from the "Life Cycle Assessment" module taught by my colleague Prof. Dr. Christoph Scope. 🌟#Strategy and #ESG Live at Europe’s Leading #Bike-Sharing Provider: How does a Leipzig-based start-up transform itself into Europe’s leading bike-sharing provider within 21 years? For our Master’s students, this corporate visit served as the perfect complement to our lectures. It powerfully demonstrated the immense practical relevance of a well-defined #businessstrategy and the integration of #sustainability as a holistic and practical approach. - #Strategy & #Scaling: Julia Kadila (Head of Tender Management) delivered fascinating insights into #nextbike's national and international business models. A major highlight was the deep dive into the #B2G (Business-to-Government) sector and Tender Management, which forms the backbone of their successful market acquisition. Seeing how #AI tools are actively integrated into their daily operations also illustrated how digital transformation is driving the future of #urbanmobility. - The #TwinTransition in Action: In a second presentation, Andrea Angel (ESG Manager) mapped out the ongoing development of their corporate sustainability strategy. She provided a highly practical overview of how the #ESG framework is embedded in a business context and highlighted the specific EU metrics and tools used for #CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) alignment. A huge #thankyou to Julia Kadila and Andrea Angel at #nextbike for sharing their time and inspiring insights with us! The many engaging questions from our #students highlighted how captivating the topics were and ensured a fantastic learning outcome. 🛶 Following our deep dive into modern #sustainability, we moved from the boardroom to the water for a canal tour of #Plagwitz with our Master’s students. Exploring the entrepreneurial spirit of the 19th century, the students analyzed the evolution and scaling of #historical business models, using iconic pioneers like #Mey&Edlich (Germany's first mail-order company) and #Baedeker (the global blueprint for modern travel guides) as key examples. This excursion proved how vital the exchange between academia and industry is, and how the #TwinTransition - #sustainability and #digitalization - is actively shaping tomorrow's businesses. #HTWDresden #StrategyAndSustainability #nextbike #BusinessModels #ESG #CSRD #PracticeMeetsTheory #Leipzig #Dresden #MobilityTransition
