Why Has Vietnam Not Yet Been Able to Ban Plastic Bags and Single-Use Plastics? After six months of implementing the policy restricting the use of plastic bags and single-use plastic products in supermarkets and shopping malls, representatives of the Department of Environment (M.A.E) have acknowledged that the policy has not yet delivered the desired results. Several factors have contributed to the challenges in implementation, including the absence of enforcement penalties, limited resources for monitoring and compliance, insufficient data, and the lack of technical standards and regulations for viable alternatives to single-use plastics. Relevant authorities are currently working together to address these obstacles while maintaining the long-term goal of phasing out plastic bags altogether. The initiative aims to reduce plastic pollution, safeguard consumer health, and create a transparent and supportive policy framework that enables environmentally responsible businesses to thrive. This ongoing effort reflects Vietnam’s commitment to advancing sustainable consumption, promoting a circular economy, and building a cleaner and greener future for all. ♻️🌏 Source: https://lnkd.in/esWRtnFc #Sustainability #PlasticReduction #CircularEconomy #Vietnam #EnvironmentalProtection #GreenBusiness #PlasticPollution #SustainableDevelopment #PROVietnam
