A recent survey from Lombard Odier shows a clear misalignment between intention and action among APAC's HNW families. While they recognise the importance of alignment, governance, and long-term continuity for maintaining family wealth, they often lack the structures, frameworks, and conversations to achieve them. Lack of communication is a common theme, as APAC families increasingly face intergenerational issues, differing long-term visions, and a lack of interest from some family members. There's also a noticeable communication gap between age groups, potentially due to younger generations' lack of confidence when broaching sensitive topics with their older counterparts. APAC families know that communication and alignment are necessary for a successful wealth transfer, but they actively avoid the open and structured conversations needed to address key issues.
