š¾ Learning by Doing: Paddy Nursery & Transplanting Field Visit šæ As a B.Sc. Agriculture student, I visited a paddy field in my home village Mamrkha, East Champaran Bihar(Motihari) PIN-845425, Bihar to gain practical knowledge about rice cultivation. This field visit helped me understand nursery management, transplanting methods, irrigation practices, and crop management under local farming conditions. š± Field Observations ā Nursery Preparation A healthy rice nursery was raised on a separate seedbed using quality seeds. The seedlings were around 18ā25days old and were ready for transplanting. ā Seed Treatment Before sowing, seeds were treated with a suitable fungicide to protect them from seed-borne diseases and to ensure better germination and healthy seedling growth. ā Land Preparation The main field was thoroughly ploughed, puddled, and levelled before transplanting. Proper land preparation helped retain water and reduced weed infestation. ā Transplanting Method Young seedlings were transplanted manually by maintaining proper spacing between rows and plants for better tillering and crop growth. ā Irrigation Management Due to irregular rainfall, irrigation water was supplied through tube-well and field channels to maintain the required moisture level in the field. ā Weed Control A pre-emergence herbicide was applied after transplanting to reduce weed competition during the early growth stage of the crop. ā Nutrient Management Nitrogen fertilizer (Urea) was applied as the first top dressing after transplanting to encourage healthy tillering and vigorous plant growth. ā Suitable Rice Varieties š¾ Rajendra Sweta š¾ Swarna (MTU 7029) š¾ Sahbhagi Dhan š¾ Swarna Sub-1 šæ Learning Outcomes This field visit improved my practical understanding of: Paddy nursery management Seed treatment techniques Field preparation and transplanting Irrigation under limited rainfall Weed and nutrient management Climate-smart rice cultivation practices This experience strengthened the connection between classroom learning and practical farming, improving my confidence in modern rice production techniques. #BscAgriculture #LearnigByDoing #Ricecultivation #Fieldvisit #Paddyfarming #Agriculturestudents #Organicfarming #floodirrigation #weedmanagement #seedtreatment #Eastchamparan #Bihar #Agriculturestudents #farmlearning #foodsecurity #ICAR #IndianAgriculture #Handonlearning
