🌿 When Project Managers and Rotarians work together, communities win. The HHRC (Huritini Halswell River Catchment) project, using the citizen science approach is proof. This is the second project where PMI Christchurch Chapter members and Riccarton Rotary Club members have collaborated. The mission? Engage our local community to learn about our river and the 190 km² catchment area – and take action to improve freshwater ecology. What we’re doing together: 💧 Monthly water testing at 10 sites along the 41 km river (using Earth Watch’s citizen science approach) 🌱 Regeneration projects - Community planting, weeding, mulching sessions, and more What value do PMI project managers bring? We’ve adopted the PMI “Project Success and MORE” approach to deliver more VALUE. ·        M – Manage perceptions across diverse groups, building trust ·        O – Ensure volunteers own the project and enjoy hands-on learning (they are the key to success) ·        R – Relentlessly review success criteria as we learn more about the river and the catchment, as more stakeholders join the project ·        E – Expand perspective. This is critical for Rotary. We want to share our approach and lessons learned from this project with other clubs worldwide. Why this matters: Rotary is a project-focused organization with 1.2 million members and over 45,000 clubs in more than 220 countries. There’s a huge opportunity for PMI members to take part and contribute locally. A call to action: 👉 Find your local Rotary Club (use the Rotary club locator) and see how to get involved in community projects. You’ll be surprised at how much value you can bring to your own community. Let’s create a movement. A ripple effect. 🌊 Lucila Dotto Taiwo Abraham Christina Barbosa, PhD, PMP Tasheka Dorsey-Wilson, PMP Haikal El Abed Ang Li, MBA, PMP, PMI-PBA, PMI-ACP, CSM, ITIL Stefanie DeYoung, PMP, Prosci CCP Dr. Raji Sivaraman, PMI-ACP, PMP, PMO-CP™, GPM-b™ Edoardo Favari, PhD, PMP, PMI-ACP, ENV-SP, SSBB Julia Adams, MA, PMP Salvador Rico Bricia ElAwar Donald M.
