3 Indonesian professionals. 3 career lessons. 0 sugarcoating. Last Saturday, PPI Belfast hosted The Real Talk, a sharing session where three Indonesian professionals in Northern Ireland came back to tell us what they wish they'd known earlier. Here's what stuck with us. Dennise reminded us of his favorite saying. "Do or do not. There is no try." Not just a line by Yoda from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, but a real principle he carries into everything in life. If you choose to do something, go all in. Half-hearted effort isn't effort. Commit fully or walk away. Laurencia shared something that silenced the room. She applied to 900+ jobs before landing her current role. Nine hundred. Her message was simple and unforgettable. Never give up. Alexander kept it real with us. Your skills alone won't carry your career. People don't just hire talent. They hire people they actually want to work with every day. Your ability to build genuine relationships, to connect with the people around you, that matters just as much as what you can deliver. A massive thank you to Dennise Zefanya Tohpati, Laurencia Cindy, and Alexander Leslie for giving us their time, and to our very own Ruben Haryanto for holding it all together as moderator.
