"For Caribbean utilities and governments, energy risk is no longer an abstract concept - it's a daily operational and fiscal reality." That's the starting point for David Knipe and Soryah Hollasie Mottley’s article, "Reshaping the Caribbean Energy Economy with Methanol", which is now live on the CARILEC - Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation website. With limited indigenous hydrocarbon resources, many Caribbean nations rely on imported diesel and fuel oil for power generation, leaving them exposed to volatile global fuel prices. When prices spike, as we have seen again recently, consumers feel it immediately, while national utilities and economies come under strain. The article sets out how the region can confront the energy trilemma that it faces all at once with methanol power solutions, which are affordable, secure, and with lower emissions. With cost-competitive methanol, produced locally in Trinidad and Tobago, and deployed using existing engines and turbines - Power32 is able to offer a cleaner-burning, price-stable power alternative that strengthens long-term energy resilience for governments, utilities and citizens.
