Business rates are set to cost post offices £43 million this financial year - postmasters need targeted business rate relief to help them survive. Post offices play a vital role in supporting local communities with essential services every day. With many post offices operating as small, independently run businesses, they are not immune to the rising cost pressures that the UK high street continues to face, and increasing business rates are causing a significant strain. There will be an additional ~600 post offices brought into paying business rates compared to FY23/24. So, we’re calling for the Government to include a specific business rates policy for post offices in the forthcoming High Streets Strategy. Contact your local MP to help us raise this issue in Parliament and ensure post offices can continue to serve local people and businesses across the UK for generations to come.
