As part of its ongoing commitment to operational excellence, Ports Victoria recently led a Simplified IALA Risk Assessment (SIRA) workshop at the Port Education Centre in Port Melbourne. Bringing together almost 30 participants, the session applied the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) risk assessment framework to review and update potential port hazards. Participants worked through identifying risks, assessing potential consequences, and exploring practical mitigation strategies. The workshop included strong collaboration between Ports Victoria staff and external maritime stakeholders, reinforcing a shared commitment to safe and efficient port operations. It was coordinated by Ports Victoria’s Operational Readiness Manager, Adam Gordon and delivered in partnership with JCJ Consulting. “It was a highly valuable day of collaboration, bringing together operational expertise from across the sector to reassess our risk profile and focus on practical, effective mitigation strategies,” Adam said. “Importantly, the session delivered real value for all involved and strengthened alignment across our stakeholder group.” A big thank you to everyone who attended, and to Jillian for facilitating an excellent workshop to strengthen Future VTS.
