In 1968, these two 911s were converted for the London–Sydney Marathon, which covered more than 16,000 kilometres through Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. The tailpipes were extended to roof height for river crossings, while the spectacular tubular frame on the outside offered protection in the event of a car rolling, or a large animal running into the road. Assisting racing teams and drivers with a variety of projects – some of them quite unusual – was one of the many reasons that the customer racing department was set up in 1973. A close connection between racing and customisation still exists at Porsche to this day. Read more about customisation at Porsche in the Porsche Newsroom: https://lnkd.in/dqbQnuHn
