Our Senior Consultant Leon Reichel would like to share what a usual work day at ponturo in the compentence centre Analytical solutions looks like. Thanks you, Leon, for your input πŸ™ Every day on an international banking engagement as a Senior Consultant for SAP FPSL and SAP FSDM 2023 feels like running a well-orchestrated relay: handoffs, deep dives, and rapid iterations β€” all across time zones. πŸ—“οΈ Mornings are for alignment 🌞 . My day typically starts with internal team syncs with colleagues spread across Europe, Asia and Australia. Those sessions are where status updates meet problem triage: we review open tickets, surface architectural risks, and decide which design options to pursue. Because of the time differences, client calls also cluster in the morning β€” the moment I present refined architecture proposals, process definitions and mitigation plans. These are not abstract slides; they are executable blueprints that balance regulatory constraints, operational feasibility and the realities of legacy landscapes. Afternoons shift gearπŸ•“. I lean into peer discussions β€” focused brainstorming with one or two colleagues to stress-test assumptions, challenge edge cases and co-create pragmatic solutions. These conversations are where ideas get sharpened and trade-offs become explicit. Late afternoons and evenings are my focus time πŸ’» : uninterrupted blocks to convert decisions into deliverables. Typical tasks include: - Implementing customizing in SAP to reflect agreed process flows - Designing and documenting interfaces that reliably move data between systems. - Preparing crisp concepts and slide decks for stakeholders - Deep-dive analysis of bugs, architectural anomalies and software limitations Working at this intersection of product, process and platform requires both technical depth and the ability to translate complexity into clear, actionable steps. What keeps me motivated is seeing a concept move from whiteboard to production β€” especially when it reduces risk, simplifies operations, or unlocks new reporting capabilities for the bank. If you’re working on SAP FPSL/FSDM transformations or integrating complex interfaces, I’d be happy to exchange lessons learned β€” the best solutions often come from shared experience. PS: As AI accompanies me throughout my workday, my little helper also supported me writing this post. πŸ€–
