A proud moment for Polonia — and for us. Our Honorary Advisor Prof. Jim Mazurkiewicz has been appointed to the Council for Polonia and Poles Abroad under the President of the Republic of Poland. The announcement came on Polish Flag Day and the Day of Polonia and Poles Abroad. Łukasz Chyla, Director of The Polish American Center (to be established), had the privilege of accompanying him at this special ceremony. Prof. Mazurkiewicz is a fifth-generation Polish American, professor at Texas A&M University, and one of the most dedicated bridges between Poland and the United States. For decades he has worked to strengthen Polish-American ties through academic exchange programs, scholarships, agricultural innovation and tireless community work as President of the Polish community in Texas. This is a well-deserved recognition. We are grateful to have Prof. Mazurkiewicz's experience and dedication behind The Polish American Center. We extend our warmest congratulations to Fred Schmidt MBE, Waldemar Stanisław Biniecki, Anna Maria Anders Costa, and all newly appointed Council members.
