This Father's Day, we want to share a special story about a father and son who work side by side at Polansoft. š¬ Dmitriy Skudarnov ā Father: "I admit, I never imagined that my son and I would one day be colleagues. When he was growing up, when I first introduced him to programming, working for the same company wasn't a goal or even a possibility. Frankly, I was terrified of becoming overprotective. That would make him seem dependent in the eyes of the coworkers. Perhaps that's why I tried to distance myself as much as possible from my son's employment at our company and his subsequent career advancement. All I allowed myself was to give him a link to a job posting. But now I'm confident that everything, from passing the interview to achieving a respectable position within the team, is his own achievement. Without a doubt, the greatest advantage of this collaboration is the level of absolute trust and mutual support. Initially, when he was just starting out with z/OS, I was one of the few people he could turn to for help or advice. But now I'm not shy about asking him questions that others would find silly. We speak the same "family language" and often understand each other without words, which significantly speeds up the resolution of many problems both at work and in everyday life." š¬ Mykhailo Skudarnov ā Son: "I never specifically planned to work at the same company as my father, but he played a big role in shaping my interest in technology. He inspired me to start coding at school, taught me the basics of C++, and later helped me learn Db2 and other practical mainframe skills. Working together is a great experience because we can learn from each other and easily share ideas. The biggest advantage is having someone I trust who is always willing to share knowledge and support my growth." This story reminds us that mentorship often starts at home, and that the strongest professional relationships are built on trust, respect, and a willingness to help each other grow. Happy Father's Day to all fathers who inspire, teach, support, and lead by example ā both at home and at work. š #FathersDay #LifeAtWork #Mentorship #Teamwork #Technology #FamilyAtWork #ProductDevelopment #SoftwareEngineering #EnterpriseSoftware #Mainframe #MainframeModernization #LegacySystems #zOS
