In 2025, developed nations contributed $174 billion in overseas aid.* That number represents compassion, generosity, and a genuine desire to help. Some of it funds emergency response, and it should. When people are suffering, action cannot wait. But beyond crisis relief, we should ask a different question: What if we invested that same intention into building systems that make donations less necessary over time? Not because aid is wrong, but because dignity is better. At Plastic Bank, we've seen what happens when people are recognized as solution makers instead of recipients. The result is real transformation. Charity can ease today's pain, but prosperity can prevent tomorrow's. One relies on continuous giving while the other creates the conditions for people to thrive on their own. That’s exactly what we need more of. Report linked in the comments.
