PlanFinder is primarily a software product company, but some layout problems are best solved with a custom configurator. This is one example. For a warehouse planning use case, we built a configurator that generates rack layouts for different existing warehouse conditions. The video shows a top view in which column arrangements vary and the rack layout updates accordingly. The objective was to maximize rack count while respecting the building’s constraints, including minimal aisle widths and keeping columns out of aisles. Rather than relying on manual trial and error, the software solves for the best valid layout under those constraints. In practice, that meant fitting more racks than a manual process typically would.
