📢 AIX-1+: the third AI-eXpress satellite is now in orbit!  Planetek Italia is proud to announce the successful launch of AIX-1+, the third mission of the AI-eXpress programme, bringing an advanced Edge Intelligence platform into space.    AIX-1+ was launched on Friday 28 November at 10:44 am (PT) aboard the SpaceX Transporter-15 mission from the SLC-4E launch pad at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.    Approximately one hour after lift-off, AIX-1+ reached Low Earth Orbit, joining the two other satellites launched earlier in 2025 - AIX-1p and AIX-1 - both developed by Planetek in collaboration with D-Orbit and AIKO - Infinite ways to autonomy. Onboard AIX-1+ technologies from TSD-Space and Addvalue Innovation.   AI-eXpress is co-funded by the European Space Agency - ESA Φ-lab’s InCubed programme and leverages advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in space to enhance satellite capabilities in terms of responsiveness, readiness, and low-latency information delivery. AI-eXpress provides a hybrid edge/cloud ecosystem hosted on a LEO platform equipped with EO payloads, deployable CubeSats, and a software framework that manages onboard sensors and resources.    Onboard AI-eXpress are hosted technologies of the first customers and early adopters: IBM, Eni, S[&]T Norway, VAKE, Norwegian Space Agency, Ubotica Technologies, Microchip Technology Inc.    🛰️ “With this third flight we are going to demonstrate the full capacity of our SpacEdge ™ concept, aligning sensing, onboard thinking and actions. This is a true demonstration of the strength of our alliance with D-Orbit". Giovanni Sylos Labini, Planetek Italia   🛰️ “The AIX-1+ satellite marks an important milestone in our collective journey to a thriving space economy. Through our collaboration with Planetek and AIKO, we’re demonstrating how digital infrastructure deployed in orbit unlocks real-time intelligence and autonomous operations. By leveraging the versatility and launch frequency In Orbit Now Services, integrated with our SpaceCloud architecture, we anticipate fast-forwarding into this new era of Edge Intelligence and expanding what’s possible in space". Viney Jean-Francois Dhiri Head of BD Space Cloud Services, D-Orbit.   🛰️ "AI-eXpress is more than just a satellite; it's a complete, integrated ecosystem. ESA has supported the development of a truly end-to-end system that delivers insights faster and more efficiently than any traditional Earth Observation approach. This marks a fundamental change in how we access and utilise space-based information". Giuseppe Borghi 🌍🛰️🇪🇺 Head of ESA Φ-lab division.   📄 Read more, watch the launch, and download the PR  👉🏻 (link in the first comment)    Stay tuned - the journey has only just begun! 🚀 #aiexpress #inorbitnow #earthobservation #cognitivecloudcomputing #IntelligenzaArtificiale #NewSpace #wearedorbit #EdgeIntelligence #LowEarthOrbit #EuropeanSpaceAgency #SpaceX #Falcon9 #Transporter15
