I was asked to comment in Dagens Juridik on PriceRunner/Google ruling from the Patent and Market Court (SEK 14.3 billion in damages). The judgment is an important statement and shows that Swedish courts are fully capable of dealing with competition law damages that not only affect the Swedish market but also affect other countries and markets in Europe. That damages would be paid was expected because the court is bound by the European Commission's decision that Google has abused its dominant position. This is how it is supposed to work. The amounts are not surprising. These markets are about astronomical economic values and in terms of Google's turnover, this is not a lot of money. Google has pushed aside and degraded the business opportunities of a competitor by promoting its own services and downgrading search results to the competitors. https://lnkd.in/d5T-uPj5 #competition #antitrust #konkurrensverket
