Most founders who don't raise aren't failing because their business isn't good enough. They're failing because of five specific, fixable mistakes and most of them happen before a single investor meeting takes place. Swipe through to see each one and exactly how to address it. 01 — No clear problem statement Investors don't fund products. They fund solutions to painful, urgent problems. If your deck opens with features, you've already lost the room. Lead with the pain. Make them feel it before you solve it. 02 — TAM is too small or unbelievable Claiming a £50B market with no evidence is just as damaging as showing a market too small to matter. Investors have seen the inflated Google slide a thousand times. Use bottom-up sizing. Show your working. A credible £800M estimate beats a hollow £10B claim every time. 03 — The team lacks domain credibility Investors bet on people first. Your team slide needs to earn trust, not just list titles. Highlight specific wins, revenue grown, products shipped, problems solved. If there are gaps, own them and show the advisors who fill them. 04 — The financials don't hold up Shaky numbers kill deals in due diligence. Vague projections and unexplained assumptions signal that you don't truly understand your business. Know your unit economics cold; CAC, LTV, payback period, gross margin. Your model doesn't need to be perfect. Your conviction in it does. 05 — You're pitching the wrong investor A brilliant pitch in the wrong room is still a wasted meeting. Stage mismatch is one of the most common and most avoidable reasons founders collect no's. Research every investor before you book the call. Tailor your outreach so they see themselves in your raise from the first line of your email. Every single one of these is fixable, before you walk into a room. At PitchHub we work with UK founders at every stage to close these gaps: refining the story, sizing the market properly, building a financial model that survives scrutiny, and getting in front of the right investors. Most of these mistakes are fixed before you ever pitch. That's where we start. Link in bio.🔗 #InvestmentReadiness #StartupFundraising #PitchDeck #UKFounders #PitchHub
