Today on #Calabrialive. No one better than #JohnTrumper, as he was born, is today able to reconstruct and recount the Penelope's web of the thousand #dialects spoken throughout the world. A scholar of ancient languages, a monument to international glottology, a true legend. Experts in the field once referred to #GerhardRohlfs, a German philologist, linguist, and glottologist, professor of Romance philology at the University of Tübingen. They called him "the archaeologist of words," an honorary citizen of Calabria, of the towns he had traveled through—Bova (1966), Candidoni (1979), Tropea, and Cosenza (1981)—and an honorary degree in literature from the #UniversityofCalabria. But after his death on September 12, 1986, John Trumper effectively became his most charismatic and exclusive heir. Perhaps even a more complete scholar than #GerhardRohlfs, certainly more prolific than the German philologist himself.#pinonano
