Most clients don’t come to me with a clear brief. They come with a feeling. A few needs. A few constraints. Sometimes a long list of things they don’t want anymore — and a sense that their home could support their life better than it does today. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as: “I want one part of the house to feel completely calm.” Or: “I want a space where people naturally gather.” What I do (through PL-Arch) is help bring clarity to that. Not by imposing a style, but by asking the right questions and translating the way someone lives into something concrete: how spaces flow, where light matters, what needs to feel quiet, what needs to feel generous. At PL-Arch, we accompany clients from early idea, concept design through to planning, construction and delivery. What I love the most is being a steady point in the middle of it all. Partner, not just architect. We work mainly across France, Italy and Devon, mainly on renovations and transformations of homes with character/heritage — where the goal isn’t to make something “pretty”, but to make something that feels unmistakably right for the people living there. Over the next few posts I’ll share more of the work and the thinking behind it. The type of decisions that don’t always look dramatic on paper, but change how a home feels every day. Pierre
