🧊 What happens when retreating Arctic glaciers expose methane trapped deep underground? In the latest Picarro Spotlight, Picarro’s Kate Schuler highlights groundbreaking work from Gabrielle Kleber the University of Cambridge and The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) and collaborators showing that methane-rich groundwater springs emerging during glacial retreat may represent a significant and previously overlooked Arctic methane source. Using the Picarro G2201-i, the team measured the stable carbon isotopic composition of methane from dozens of springs, helping distinguish deep geologic methane from biologically produced methane. The findings reveal how trusted isotopic measurements can improve our understanding of climate feedback loops and hidden methane emissions in a warming Arctic. 👉 Read the full blog: https://hubs.ly/Q04jpJNY0 👉 Learn about the G2201-i https://hubs.ly/Q04jpHMp0 #EnvironmentalScience #ClimateScience #Glaciers #Methane #Arctic
