📈 ⚠️ People are dying in #ICE detention at an alarming rate. A new report from PHR and Human Rights Watch examines how dangerous conditions, delayed and denied medical care, and a system that prioritizes detention over health has caused soaring mortality rates in ICE custody. 💬 "The astronomical rise of people in detention is dangerous and inexcusable," said Dr. Katherine Peeler, medical advisor with PHR and one of the report authors. No one should die because they were denied timely medical care while in government custody. So many of these deaths are preventable, and they all require accountability. ⚖️ PHR and HRW demand ICE cease violations of immigrants’ rights and ensure oversight.
