My behaviour almost started a fight. Walking into treatment, the nurse looked at me with a grin and said, “You’ll have everyone fighting over you today.” I laughed, thinking she was joking, until she explained that the team genuinely queue up to treat me. This isn’t because I’m easy on the veins (far from it), it’s because I’ve learned their names, I remember the names of their children, their holiday destinations, their weekend plans, in fact anything at all that I believe is important to them. Throughout my life I’ve always done this. Whether you work for me, whether you’re a tradesmen working in my home, or a nurse treating my cancer. The reason I do this, is because relationships matter, and I live by this rule: Effort doesn’t start by asking a question, it begins when you remember the answer. The Life Lessons I have learned about Emotional Intelligence: ➡️ Notice the small and you’ll matter to all: It’s never the grand gestures that build the strongest bonds, it’s the small ones, remembered and repeated. Ask about someone’s day, then actually remember the answer next time. That’s where trust is built, one brick at a time. ➡️ What you give away, is what returns your way: Effort isn’t a transaction, it’s an investment. The energy you put into people has a habit of finding its way back to you, often when you need it most. ➡️ Show you care, and the connection is there: Connection isn’t complicated, it just requires intention. The moment you stop talking about kindness and start practising it, people feel the difference instantly. My thought for you today: If you want to positively change your life forever, start with the person in front of you. Big Love everyone ❤️ QUOTE: “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” - Aesop DISCLAIMER: There are 2 nurses who are twins, and I’ve finally mastered how to tell them apart when working on shift together. Alison has a tiny freckle below her left eye, whereas Andrew has a full grown beard. 😆 —————————————— “This is what the PROOF™ Framework gave me when I had nothing left to lose.
