I help redesign learning experiences for the AI era | Instructional Design, PBL & Learning Systems | Co-Founder PBL Future Labs

Imagine a student has a great idea.. They want to make a video game about ancient Rome, showing its society and politics. This idea has a lot of potential. It shows real curiosity. But when you, as an educator, hear this, you probably also think about something else.. You think about curriculum standards.. how to grade it.. and the tough job of fitting this big, creative idea into your teaching plan... Does that sound like your experience? This is a common challenge: the gap between a student's passion and what school requires. This article explores how I am approaching Student Portfolios and Teacher/Student-Co Created Curriculum. -What if that gap isn't so big? -Can AI help this process? Imagine mapping an idea for a Roman video game project directly to your learning standards... It takes one (well-prepared) meeting, a co-creation of ideas and alignment, leading to a rich student portfolio, driven by passion and engagement.
