There's a ๐ฆ๐๐ฃ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ with this infamous Ben's Gutters leaflet. I got mine yesterday. At first glance, it's effective. Looks genuinely handwritten and sweet. Personal mobile number. Smiley face. There's evidence that handwritten notes boost response ratesยน and can 2x salesยฒ. I'm sure that's why Ben's Gutters created it. But there's a problem. At the bottom it reads: "๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐'๐ด ๐ฃ๐ช๐จ๐จ๐ฆ๐ด๐ต ๐จ๐ถ๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ค๐ญ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ข๐ฏ๐บ" Would the biggest in the industry ๐๐๐๐๐๐ have time to handwrite these letters? Apparently not... it seems everyone in the country has received the exact same note: https://lnkd.in/eQVi2iwN It's not handwritten; ๐ข๐ญ'๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐๐. People in Newcastle, Norwich and Newbury get identical versions. Which defeats the point. Because the leaflet claimsย "๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ญ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐จ๐ถ๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข". But this is a nationwide campaign, so I'm 99% certain it's BS. I'm sure this leaflet is incredibly effective for Ben, but by focusing on scale over efficacy, I think their deceit will piss off a decent chunk of recipients. --- ๐ง I send a newsletter with marketing psychology tips like this to 10,832 readers each Friday.
