🇩🇪 PhD Positions (m/f/d) | Computational Neuroscience | Max Planck Society 📍 Munich / Tübingen, Germany 🏫 Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology 👩‍🏫 Supervisor: Roxana Zeraati 📅 Deadline: June 15, 2026 🔗 View the opportunity: https://lnkd.in/g7FAY3hB The Natural Decision Making Group at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics is offering two PhD positions in Computational Neuroscience. The research aims to understand how animals learn environmental dynamics and adapt their decisions across different timescales. The project investigates natural decision-making through foraging behavior using data-driven computational models. By combining approaches from reinforcement learning, dynamical systems, and artificial intelligence, the research explores the neural and algorithmic mechanisms behind adaptive decision-making. The work involves cross-species studies, including experiments with C. elegans, zebrafish, mice, and humans, to uncover shared and species-specific decision strategies. The PhD students will collaborate with international experimental labs to design comparable behavioral tasks and analyze large-scale datasets. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in computational neuroscience, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, cognitive science, psychology, or related fields, along with strong programming skills (preferably Python) and analytical abilities. Experience in computational modeling, data analysis, or reinforcement learning is advantageous. 🎓 The positions are funded under E13 TVöD (German public research salary scale) and initially offered for 3 years, with possible extension. PhD students will join the Graduate Training Centre of Neuroscience (GTC) and may also apply to the International Max Planck Research School for the Mechanisms of Mental Function and Dysfunction (IMPRS-MMFD). 🚨 Follow PhDScanner and join our WhatsApp channel for updates: https://lnkd.in/eBcBeXVK #PhD #PhDPosition #ComputationalNeuroscience #AI #ReinforcementLearning #Neuroscience #Germany #MaxPlanck #AcademicJobs #ResearchCareers #DataScience #NeuroAI
