Hari Raya feels different when you are far from home. For Nursyafiqah Alya, a second-year PETRONAS scholar studying Marketing at Kanazawa University in Japan, it is the small things she misses most: the first Syawal breakfast, the quiet before Eid prayers, and the warmth of family gathered close. But distance has a way of revealing what you are made of. With no musical background, Alya took up the viola, joined one of Japan’s oldest university orchestras and recently performed in her second public concert, something she never once imagined for herself.
