Franklin George from Sarawak experienced hardships and academic challenges while growing up in a remote Penan village. Enduring long journeys to school and struggling to fit in as one of only a handful of Penan students, Franklin often felt that going home would have been a safer choice. But he stayed on, thanks to his school principal. “If not for Cikgu Mering back then, I think I would have dropped out of school. I would have stopped right there,” Franklin recalled. That timely support changed the course of his life. Now a PETRONAS executive based in Miri, Franklin's journey has come full circle. He currently leads a community re-skilling initiative that has placed over 70 rural youths into certified technical jobs since 2024, transforming hardship into hope, and hope into real opportunity. #PETRONAS #PassionateAboutProgress
