Circular E-Cars: dismantling an electric car 🚗 During the week of August 11–15, the Circular E-Cars Research Training Group had an exciting project on the agenda: dismantling an electric car. 👨‍🔧Wolfgang C.A. Lattacher, Ali Sohrabzadeh, Tobias Herty, Steffen Schmädecker, Philipp Schetter, Benedikt Schmitz, and Felix May worked tirelessly to remove the components of the end-of-life vehicle, which will now be used for research. Although the team faced some challenges, as it was their first time dismantling a car, they worked diligently to gather all the required components. 🛠️ Whether seats for examining textiles, steel components for analyzing alloy composition, or control systems for reading out all information, everything was carefully dismantled and prepared for transfer to the researchers. ♻️ Now another exciting phase of the joint project between RWTH Aachen University, FH Münster, Universität Siegen, and Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie gGmbH can begin: analyzing the components regarding their recyclability with the goal of contributing to a circular economy in the automotive industry.
