It really is odd that a regional hotel more famous for its historic gardens is the first hotel in Australia to introduce such innovative - but obvious - technology. Why haven't all the hip, hi-tech CBD hotels been pathfinders for seamless room access? I remember Jerry Schwartz showing me this technology a decade ago, but he's had to wait till his acquisition of Comfort Resort Leura Gardens to introduce it. In the pipeline for future deployment are The Victoria Hotel in Melbourne and Paradise Resort Gold Coast. I realise that some hotels - and guests - still love the interaction at reception (hopefully to convert them to booking direct), but many guests just want to get to their rooms as soon as possible.
