Baroness Betty Boothroyd, first and only female Speaker of the House of Commons, led the eight year campaign for the Monument to victory. She had a warm relationship with ‘sculptor to the nation’ John W Mills, far right. Listening intently - far left - is Stephen Prowse, project manager for Appleyards, a key player in the Bletchley Park transformation. Coincidentally, John made a sculpture of codebreaker Alan Turing for Surrey University.
