Courage is the theme of Refugee Week 2026, the world's largest arts and culture festival, which runs from 15 to 21 June. Across the UK, communities are celebrating and sharing what they have carried with them from home, from Afghan and Central Asian music in Richmond, Ethiopian dance in Scotland and a Ukrainian choir in South Gloucestershire, to art by people seeking sanctuary at the Southbank Centre in London. Every day, through our employability contracts, we support people facing barriers to find and keep good work. Among them are refugees with the right to work, often navigating the benefits system and the UK labour market for the first time, with skills and qualifications earned elsewhere that are not always recognised here. We see what practical, patient support makes possible, and we know it works best alongside organisations rooted in the communities where people have settled. Through the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group, we are proud to highlight members who are doing this work too. IKEA and Sodexo UK and Ireland are both publicly demonstrating what practical employability support for refugees can look like, from recruitment routes designed for people unfamiliar with UK hiring to language support and mentoring. If your organisation wants to understand how to offer refugees a supported route into employment, this is a good week to get inspired and start the conversation. #RefugeeWeek2026 #Courage #SocialRecruitment #SRAG
