ROI in HR is having a bit of an identity shift. It’s no longer just about reducing hiring costs or improving process efficiency. The conversation has clearly moved towards bigger business questions — productivity, agility, execution speed, decision-making, and whether people strategies are actually helping organisations grow. At the HONO × People Matters roundtable at Leela Ambience, Gurugram, leaders had a refreshingly honest discussion on what modern HR transformation really looks like when AI, workforce expectations, and business pressures are all changing at once. Some interesting reflections from the room: • Productivity only matters if it connects back to business outcomes. • CHROs today are expected to ask tougher ROI questions, not just report HR metrics. • Organisations are leaning heavily on analytics to make faster and more objective decisions. • AI came up repeatedly, not as a magic solution, but as a tool that still needs better adoption and practical application. What stood out most was how grounded the conversation felt. Less buzzwords, more operational reality. Leaders were far more focused on execution, adaptability, and business value than on “transformation” as a corporate phrase. A big thank you to all the leaders who brought practical insights and candid perspectives to the discussion.
