Recently, members of our RAP Working Group visited Gummingurru, a significant cultural site for First Nations peoples near Toowoomba. Guided by Traditional Owner Conrad Bauwens, the group gained a deeper understanding of the Country connected to where many of our people live and work, and the cultural heritage of its Traditional Owners. Gummingurru has long been an important meeting place for the Jarowair people of the Wakka Wakka nation and other Aboriginal groups, featuring stone arrangements that reflect strong cultural and spiritual connections to Country. As Anna Wischer from our RAP Working Group shared: "The visit really brought the culture and ceremonies of our First Nations people to life. Blending the stories with the physical landscape was an incredibly powerful way to build understanding of our cultural and historical heritage." Experiences like this play an important role in building cultural awareness and strengthening our commitment to reconciliation through our Reconciliation Action Plan.
